The empty seat left by Owen Wilson in "Tropic Thunder" is finally re-occupied. Variety has brought in report informing that Matthew McConaughey is taking over the role the "Wedding Crashers" star dropped after he was hospitalized for suicide attempt. As Wilson's replacement, McConaughey thereby will only appear as an uncredited cameo in the project. While late notice, the hunk just needs to take a week out of his filming schedule to undergo his scenes there. |

Zoe Saldana (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) is set to portray Uhura in J.J. Abrams' forthcoming Star Trek. The movie - written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who will both executive-produce alongside Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof - is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2008 release. The storyline is being kept tightly under wraps, however, it is known that the movie will chronicle the crew's early days at Starfleet Academy. Uhura (which means freedom in Swahili) was of course played by Nichelle Nichols in the original series. Nichols is set to return to the small screen in the second season of Heroes. |
