Uhura Cast in New Star Trek |

 Zoe Saldana (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) is set to portray Uhura in J.J. Abrams' forthcoming Star Trek.
The movie - written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who will both executive-produce alongside Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof - is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2008 release.
The storyline is being kept tightly under wraps, however, it is known that the movie will chronicle the crew's early days at Starfleet Academy.
Uhura (which means freedom in Swahili) was of course played by Nichelle Nichols in the original series. Nichols is set to return to the small screen in the second season of Heroes.
