The daughter (Bartusiak) of renowned Manhattan psychiatrist Nathan Conrad (Douglas) is kidnapped by a jewel thief (Bean). To get her back, the thief gives Nathan eight hours to lead him to a stolen diamond, the location of which is locked inside the mind of a catatonic woman (Murphy).
